What is wrong about Ho'oponopono?
Do it better or just move beyond it

Published independently by Lonani London, 2022
My journey through the new age self-help version of Ho'oponopono,
which was originally a Hawaiian practice of family therapy.
I will explain my experiences and issues with the practice,
how I tweaked it to my needs and why I eventually dropped it completely.
I do expect negative feedback from those who are married to the practice,
please remember this was my experience.
This work is presented with a deep respect for the Hawaiian people and culture.

Review
Informative little booklet/brochure of 7 pages about the modern new age version of ho'oponopono.
The author is bothered by the Christian notions of sin, asking forgiveness and apologizing in the
new age ho'oponopono mantra. By constantly apologizing with: sorry, please forgive me, you are constantly
confirming that you are sinful and not good as you are. These are Christian notions and not so much notions
from the Hawaiian traditions, which have no concept of sin and hell. From the Hawaiian traditions one focuses on
pono: doing good, being righteous, pono stands for everything that is good and one strives to be and do pono.
People who pursue pono can also sometimes clash with other people, which can cause friction, irritation and problems.
Those involved would then come together as a group for ho'oponopono. They came together voluntarily with the best
intentions to find a solution that everyone can wholeheartedly agree on. That is ho'oponopono.
Recensie
new age ho'oponopono mantra.
